Al-Burhan Receives Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region;

General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received a delegation from the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) in Khartoum today (Sunday). The delegation was led by the organization’s Executive Secretary, João Samuel Caholo, and the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eldin Salem.

In a press statement, the Executive Secretary noted that the ICGLR views Sudan as a vital and pivotal state on the African continent. He described the meeting with the Chairman of the Sovereign Council as constructive, highlighting its contribution to addressing the continent’s issues.

The Executive Secretary affirmed Sudan’s belief in the necessity of resolving African problems within an African framework, free from international interference. He added that the meeting covered several issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the importance of sustaining security and stability in the region.

João Samuel Caholo stated that the ICGLR is confident the region is in safe hands and that Sudan is on the right track. He emphasized the organization’s support for Sudan during this critical phase, aiming to achieve peace and stability across the entire country.
