The Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, tweeted on the X platform, saying, “Thank you, Your Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, thank you, President Donald Trump.”
In a statement, the Sovereign Council expressed its gratitude to both bin Salman and Trump for their concern and ongoing efforts to stop the bloodshed in Sudan, adding, “We affirm our readiness to engage seriously with them to achieve the peace that the Sudanese people are waiting for.”
Trump said in a post on Truth Social following his talks with the Saudi Crown Prince that Sudan is witnessing “tremendous atrocities” and has become the most violent place on earth, as well as the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
He continued, “There is a desperate need for food, doctors, and all other forms of support.” He went on to say, “Arab leaders from around the world—and in particular His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who recently departed the United States—have asked me to use the power and influence of the presidency to stop what is happening in Sudan immediately.”
The US president indicated that the situation could be rectified through cooperation and coordination among nations, including those in a region of immense wealth that genuinely desire to achieve this goal.
He added, “We will continue to work with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and other partners in the Middle East to end these atrocities while simultaneously working toward the stability of Sudan.”
