A military source said that the Sudanese army repelled today, Sunday, an attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the headquarters of the 22nd Division in Babanusa, West Kordofan State.

The source, according to Al Jazeera channel, added that the army was able to repel the attack after clashes erupted at dawn today in the city, which is considered one of the strongest positions of the Sudanese army in the state.

Earlier today, the RSF said it had taken control of large parts of Babanusa.

The attack on the 22nd Division command in Babanusa comes after the militia mobilized large forces in an attempt to seize the army’s headquarters and the entire city.

Activists and RSF soldiers today posted footage showing part of the military attack on areas controlled by the 22nd Division forces in Babanusa.

The images showed aspects of the clashes and revealed the extent of destruction and fires that affected the division’s headquarters due to the militia’s ongoing attacks.
