New Minister of Justice Assumes His Duties

The newly sworn in Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Darf, has assumed his duties taking over from, Dr. Muawia Osman Mohamed Khair.

Darf has emphasized the importance of working as a team, saying, “We will remain equidistant from everyone.” He also emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between relevant judicial bodies to uphold the rule of law.

A handover ceremony took place today on Sunday in the Ministry of Justice Hall at the Ministries Complex in Salalab, in the presence of Mawlana Huwaida Ali Awad Al-Karim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan, and heads of the legal departments at the Ministry’s headquarters.

During the handover ceremony, the former minister briefed his successor on the ministry’s progress over the past period, highlighting its most notable achievements during his tenure, the challenges facing the ministry, and the strategic plan for the next phase.

The new minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the former minister for his significant efforts, particularly in recovering the ministry’s data after it had been seized by the rebel militia, and for providing the state with legal support both domestically and internationally during the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.
