National Negotiating Team for the Abyei Area Holds Its First Meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, chaired the first meeting of the National Negotiating Team for the Abyei Area,Thursday. The meeting was attended by Sovereign Council member Abdullah Yahya, along with all other members of the team.

The meeting addressed current developments regarding the Abyei area, as well as recent updates concerning the region’s status, in accordance with the relevant agreements and established frameworks. The team also reviewed its action plan and the procedures for executing the tasks and mandates defined by the resolution. Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts to achieve the desired objectives and fulfill the required mandates.

It is worth noting that this National Negotiating Team was established pursuant to Resolution No. 400 of 2026, issued by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council.
