22 Ministries Instead of 26: PM Announces Ministry Portfolios and Embarks on Forming the Cabinet

Transitional Prime Minister Dr Kamal Idris is expected to announce the finalized list of ministries his team has settled on within the hour.

Informed sources told the Sudanhorizon News that the Prime Minister has decided to reduce the number of ministries in the executive branch from 26 to 22.

According to the same sources, key highlights of the new cabinet structure include the creation of two new ministries — one for National Security and another for Environment and Sustainability. Additionally, the Ministry of International Cooperation will be merged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Irrigation will be combined with the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry of Culture and Information will remain a single, unified entity.
