British Delegation Arrives in Port Sudan on Tuesday

London – Sudanhorizon – Mariam Absher
A high-level British delegation will arrive in the administrative capital, Port Sudan, the day after tomorrow (Tuesday) for an official two-day visit.
According to diplomatic sources who spoke to the “Sudanhorizon” news website, the British delegation includes the Director General for Africa, the Americas, and Overseas Territories at the British Foreign Office, Harriett Matthews, accompanied by the UK Special Envoy for Sudan. The delegation is scheduled to meet with senior government officials to discuss several important issues, primarily the humanitarian situation, a ceasefire, and the resumption of the democratic transition.
Last Friday, the UK Minister for Africa, Lord Colin Collins, during a meeting with Sudan’s Ambassador to London, Babiker El-Siddiq, reiterated his country’s position, as announced by the UK Permanent Representative to the United Nations during a UN Security Council session, rejecting the political charter signed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Nairobi. He emphasized the necessity of preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
During the meeting, the minister confirmed that the UK recognizes General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, as the head of state.
