The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the international community at large, specifically the African Union, the United Nations, and the Arab League, to support the roadmap announced by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (on Saturday). It describes the roadmap as “a national consensus to establish peace and stability in the country and complete the transition tasks”
In a press statement issued by the office of the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (on Sunday), it was stated that “amid the developments of the war imposed on Sudan and following the successes achieved by the armed forces, joint and supporting forces, backed by the entire Sudanese people, and the tightening of the noose around the rebels on various fronts, the state leadership, after extensive consultations with national and societal forces, has proposed a roadmap to prepare for the post-war phase and resume the comprehensive political process that will culminate in holding free and fair general elections.”
The statement clarified that the roadmap includes the following:
Launching a comprehensive national dialogue involving all political and societal forces and welcoming anyone who takes a national stance, lays down arms, and joins the national front.
Forming a government of independent national competencies to resume the tasks of the transitional period and assist the state in overcoming the repercussions of the war.
The necessary amendments to the constitutional document are made, it is approved by national and societal forces, and then a civilian prime minister is selected to manage the state’s executive body without interference.
Affirming freedom of opinion and political action without undermining the nation or violating national constants and ensuring that no citizen is deprived of their right to obtain a passport.
Requiring the laying down of arms and the evacuation of civilian properties as a precondition for any talks with the rebels. Rejecting any call for a ceasefire unless the siege on El Fasher is lifted, with the ceasefire followed by a withdrawal from El Fasher.
