Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

The Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr Mohieldin Naeem, revealed that the Chinese company CNPC had expressed its readiness and willingness to inspect the refinery post-war for reconstruction purposes.

This announcement came during his visit on Tuesday to the Khartoum Refinery following its liberation from the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The Minister outlined the extent of the damage inflicted on the refinery, noting that several units within the facility were severely affected. He confirmed the loss of approximately 700,000 barrels of gasoil, equivalent to the cargo of an entire ship.

The Minister stated, “Despite the significant losses, we found the workers highly motivated to rebuild as quickly as possible.”

For his part, the Director-General of the refinery provided a detailed presentation explaining the scale of the losses sustained by the refinery and its core units. He emphasized that the destruction was systematic and would require substantial efforts to restore the refinery to its former state. He added that this could only be achieved through determination and perseverance.
