Chief Justice of the Red Sea State Receives Delegation from the Bar Association

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

A delegation from the Sudanese Bar Association conveyed to the Chief Justice of the Red Sea State, Justice Abdel Moneim Mohamed Ismail, on Wednesday their readiness to collaborate in addressing the challenges facing the judiciary due to the large influx of displaced persons into Port Sudan and the state as a whole.
The delegation reviewed the substantial administrative arrangements undertaken by the Red Sea judiciary to ease the pressure on the court complex and the notarisation office in the city. They also discussed measures the Bar Association took, including the initiation of delayed batches of new lawyers.
On a related note, Chief Justice Abdel Moneim denied claims that he had met with the Steering Committee of Lawyers in the state. He clarified that a group of lawyers known to him had visited his office in their personal capacities to discuss challenges affecting court and notarisation performance. They did not present themselves as representatives of the Steering Committee or any other entity representing lawyers. He strongly refuted media and social media reports that suggested he had met with the Steering Committee.
Justice Abdel Moneim emphasized, as conveyed by the Bar Association delegation, that the state’s judiciary is committed to equality among all legal professionals based on the rule of law and judicial authority. He also called for accuracy and integrity in reporting such meetings.
The meeting was attended by prominent lawyers from the Bar Association, including Assistant Bar Association Secretary Tariq Abdel Fattah, Secretary-General Imad El-Din Al-Fadani, Deputy Secretary-General Taj El-Din El-Khidr from the Red Sea State, and Council Rapporteur Mudathir Adam Ali, accompanied by lawyer Mohamed Suleiman.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on periodic meetings to ensure efficiency and smooth workflow. The discussions were characterised by a friendly atmosphere and a strong commitment to collaboration within the limits of the law and established traditions between the judiciary and the legal profession.
