Sudan Wins Position of Vice President of the Arab Water Ministerial Council
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Sudan has won the position of Vice President of the Arab Water Ministerial Council, in a step that strengthens its standing and role within the framework of joint Arab action.
This achievement is the result of the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, headed by Ismat Qurashi Abdullah, to strengthen Arab cooperation in the fields of water and irrigation, reinforce Sudan’s presence in matters related to the management of shared water resources, and achieve Arab water security.
The Ministry’s media office affirmed that the victory comes amid the challenges facing Sudan as a result of the war, alongside ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the water and irrigation sector and restore its institutional and developmental capacities. The win also reflects the confidence of Arab counterparts in Sudan’s role and opens broader prospects for strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in ways that support recovery and reconstruction efforts while safeguarding Sudan’s water interests.
