RSF South Nyala Sector Commander Defects and Joins the Sudanese Army

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Lieutenant Colonel Jiddo Mohammed Adamo Hima, commander of Group 135 and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) South Nyala Sector, announced on Saturday that he had defected and joined the Sudanese Armed Forces.

Hima appeared in a video message appealing to the officers and soldiers under his command, as well as his former comrades, to defect immediately and spare their families from continued involvement in a war he said served a rebellious family and foreign agendas.

Hima had previously overseen the personal security details of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) and his brother, Abdel Rahim.

Jiddo accused the Dagalo family of surrendering the RSF’s independent decision-making to foreign countries, which he said were trading in the blood and suffering of the Sudanese people.

He explained that his decision followed a lengthy reassessment of his position and participation in the war. He said he had become convinced that continuing to serve in the RSF no longer had any justification, adding that Sudanese people had been displaced and had lost their homes and loved ones, while the war had left the country’s future uncertain.

The defecting commander affirmed that he accepted responsibility for his decision and was prepared to submit to any necessary legal procedures, while committing himself to protecting civilians.
