Civilians, Including Women and Children, Freed from RSF Cells
Sudanhorizon – Khartoum Bahri
The Sudanese Armed Forces were able to free civilians who were being held by the rebel Rapid Support Militia in the Kadro area in the Bahri locality, north of Khartoum.
A special force consisting of the Sudanese army, the General Intelligence Service, and mobilized personnel succeeded in reaching several families who were being held by the Rapid Support Militia in the Kadro and Halfaya areas and were using them as human shields.
The Sudanhorizon news website obtained videos showing young children, who appeared to be malnourished, who had been detained by the militia since the beginning of the war in the Kadro and Halfaya areas. The children began chanting with the force that took them to safe locations, “One Army, One People.”
One released woman said: “We suffered a lot, and now we are happy after becoming free.” Another group in the Halfaya area welcomed the army’s openness, which will enable them to obtain the assistance they lacked in the past and to live safely after the military deployed in this area and secured it.
The Halfaya and Kadro areas north of Khartoum Bahri have been suffering throughout the previous period from the lack of services and cases of killing and rape practiced by the Rapid Support Militia against citizens, in addition to preventing them from leaving and forcing women and children to do hard labor without compensation.
Video clips showed how the rebel forces turned citizens’ homes into secret prisons, as well as barracks and military bases after expelling citizens from inside them and looting their belongings. After the army opened up to the Bahri area and crossed the Halfaya Bridge, the rebels fled and left their cars inside citizens’ homes.
The commander of the Kadro military area, Major General Al-Numan Awad Al-Sayed, announced the cleansing of the city of Kadro from the rebellion, stressing the need to move forward to cleanse all potential pockets.
