Asmara – Sudanhorizon

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignt Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, paid a brief visit to the Eritrean capital, Asmara, on Friday. The visit, described as “fraternal,” included a summit meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.
A press release issued by the Transitional Sovereign Council’s media office stated that the meeting addressed bilateral relations between Sudan and Eritrea, and ways to develop and strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two countries, in a manner that serves the common interests of both peoples.
Burhan had previously made a similar visit to Asmara in mid-July, during which he discussed several issues of mutual interest with President Afwerki.
Sudan and Eritrea share common interests related to Red Sea security and the security situation in neighboring Ethiopia, which is experiencing tensions on the Tigray and Oromia fronts.
