Sudan Discusses Transparency and Expanded Investment Cooperation with World Bank

Bangkok – Sudanhorizon

Sudan has discussed opportunities to benefit from the services and initiatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), particularly in supporting the private sector and stimulating investment.

The discussions took place during a meeting between the Sudanese delegation, led by Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim, and Dr. Zarau Wendelin Kibwe, the World Bank Executive Director representing the constituency to which Sudan belongs. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok.

Both sides agreed to launch a dialogue to identify potential areas of cooperation and opportunities to benefit from the corporation’s services. The initiative aims to support private-sector participation in economic activity and broaden Sudan’s investment base.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of projects financed by third parties, strengthening transparency in the management of their funding, and expanding Sudan’s access to services provided by World Bank Group institutions.

The Sudanese delegation emphasized the importance of providing clear and comprehensive information on the amounts allocated to projects, the mechanisms for disbursing and managing the funds, and the bank accounts into which they are deposited. This, it said, would strengthen transparency and oversight, improve the efficiency of resource utilization, and ensure that funds are directed toward their designated purposes.
