Sudan’s Finance Minister: Strengthening Cooperation with Kuwait Investment Authority

The Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani, met with the Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority, Sheikh Saud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, to discuss ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between Sudan and Kuwait and attract more Kuwaiti investments to the country.
The meeting was also attended by the Sudanese Ambassador to Kuwait, Awad Al-Karim Al-Rih.
The meeting addressed several economic and investment issues of mutual interest and ways to develop relations between the two countries, translating the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties into practical partnerships and projects.
The Minister of Finance emphasized Sudan’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and removing obstacles hindering trade and investment, enabling Kuwaiti investors to capitalize on promising opportunities in Sudan.
He reviewed Sudan’s economic potential and resources, highlighting investment opportunities in agriculture, food security, livestock, mining, gold and minerals, ports, and infrastructure.
He also presented several priority projects and called for increased Kuwaiti investment in Sudan.
For her part, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani, addressed the financial and banking aspects that support investment and trade between the two countries. She emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between financial and banking institutions, facilitating transactions and transfers related to commercial and investment activities, and developing mechanisms to finance priority projects. This, she noted, would enhance investor confidence and support long-term investments.
The Kuwaiti side affirmed its keenness to develop economic and investment relations with Sudan and explore partnership opportunities, particularly in the areas of food security, minerals, and sectors with a comparative advantage.
Both sides agreed to refer the proposed projects and files to the relevant technical authorities in their respective countries for review and completion of the necessary procedures, paving the way for their implementation in the coming period.
This meeting comes within the framework of Sudan’s efforts to expand its economic and investment partnerships and strengthen cooperation with Kuwait, contributing to recovery and development and achieving the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
