Sudanese Government: Army Has No Connection to the Incident at Souq al-Na’am in Abyei
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudan Government has expressed deep regret over the civilian casualties which resulted from an alleged drone strike at the Souq al-Na’am market in the Abyei region—an attack purportedly carried out by the Sudanese Army.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday , Sudan expressed its solidarity with the families of the victims and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
But the Sudanese government categorically rejected any involvement by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in this tragic incident, noting that it bears the hallmarks of the crimes consistently committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The statement pointed to the RSF’s attack on the UNISFA (United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei) camp on December 13, 2025—which resulted in the death of several peacekeepers from the Bangladeshi contingent—as well as the militia’s repeated targeting of humanitarian aid convoys.
