Director General of the Sudanese Radio and Television Corporation, Ibrahim Al-Bazai, participated today (Thursday) in the opening and plenary sessions of the 7th China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum, being held in Beijing from August 19 to 21.

The Chinese side is represented at the forum by a number of officials, led by Cao Shumin, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, along with a number of ministers, officials, and representatives of Chinese and African media institutions, according to Osama Mukhtar, correspondent for Sudan Radio in China.

The forum is being held under the theme “Sharing Development Opportunities and Shaping the Future of Audiovisual Media.” It focuses on the role of media in promoting communication and exchanges between Chinese and African peoples, supporting cooperation in economic and trade development, and encouraging interaction and cooperation among young people.

The forum adopted the Joint Declaration of the 7th China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum and reviewed key achievements in China-Africa cooperation in radio, television, and audiovisual media.

The China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum is one of the mechanisms for media exchange and dialogue within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). It has been held periodically since 2012 and has contributed to strengthening understanding, sharing expertise, and promoting cooperation between Chinese and African media institutions.

The seventh edition of the forum addresses a number of issues related to content development, media innovation, and technological cooperation, particularly the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the media sector, with the aim of strengthening cultural, media, and industrial cooperation and supporting joint development efforts.

The forum also includes a number of accompanying activities and programs, including audiovisual program exchanges, co-creation initiatives, and programs aimed at strengthening interaction and cooperation between Chinese and African youth.

Sudan’s participation in the forum underscores the importance of strengthening its media relations with China and other African countries, expanding opportunities for professional and technical cooperation and exchange in radio, television, and audiovisual production, and benefiting from advanced experiences and expertise in developing media work.
