Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Federal Gathering, Qarib Allah Al-Samani, has revealed that the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has pledged to implement the outcomes of the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, which is scheduled to be launched soon.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon website on Sunday, Al-Samani said that a delegation from the Watan Alliance met with Burhan on July 21 at the latter’s request to respond to the alliance’s memorandum, which it had submitted earlier. The memorandum outlined the Watan Alliance’s vision for ending the war, establishing peace, and restoring democratic civilian rule.
Al-Samani explained that General Burhan has pledged to fully implement the outcomes of the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and demanded that the dialogue be inclusive, excluding only those who refused to participate, in addition to the National Democratic Alliance (Tassis) and the National Congress Party (NCP). According to Al-Samani, Burhan also pledged to implement measures to create a conducive environment for the success of the dialogue process, particularly the “Watan” coalition’s request to halt the legal and security measures preventing members of the “Sumud” coalition from participating in the internal dialogue.
Burhan informed the leaders of “Watan” coalition that he had contacted some members of the “Sumud” coalition, led by former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, and that he also pledged to integrate all militias into the armed forces.
It is worth noting that the “Watan” coalition had submitted a memorandum proposing the formation of an independent national preparatory committee to oversee and manage the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue process.
Qarib Allah Al-Samani explained that his party, which is active within the same coalition, prepared a framework document outlining the committee’s definition, composition, tasks, responsibilities, participation criteria, and term.
The Federal Gathering is also considering revising the Constitutional Declaration with substantial amendments, as well as conducting a comprehensive review of the Juba Peace Agreement. The Secretary-General of the Federal Gathering affirmed that the Sudanese national dialogue is the best way to create a broad national consensus for the national project leading to sustainable peace and a firmly established democracy.
