Sudan–China Trade Forum Opens in Beijing; Envoy Invites Chinese Firms to Join Reconstruction

The Sudan–China Trade and Investment Forum opened today in the Chinese capital, Beijing, with broad participation from government institutions, companies, and business leaders from both countries. The forum was organized jointly by the International Exchange Committee of the China Association of Trade in Services, Qixing International Investment and Service Co., Ltd., and the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in China.
Addressing the forum, Sudan’s Ambassador to China, Omar Eisa Ahmed, praised the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries, emphasizing that the event marks another milestone in their longstanding strategic partnership. He noted that in 2025, Sudan and China celebrated the tenth anniversary of their strategic partnership, which has significantly advanced political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
According to Sudan Radio correspondent in Beijing, Osama Mokhtar, Ambassador Omar Eisa highlighted China’s position as Sudan’s largest economic and trading partner. He noted that Chinese companies have implemented numerous strategic projects in the fields of oil, energy, mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and telecommunications.
The ambassador said Sudan is now entering a new phase of economic recovery and reconstruction, creating promising investment opportunities for Chinese companies across a range of sectors, particularly infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics.
Speaking on Sudan’s investment climate, Ambassador Omar Eisa stressed the Sudanese government’s commitment to improving the business environment through the development of legislative and institutional frameworks, as well as by offering attractive incentives and facilities for investors.
He called on Chinese companies to expand their investments and establish long-term strategic partnerships that would facilitate technology transfer and support industrial localization for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The ambassador also praised the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), commending the Chinese government’s decision to grant full tariff exemptions on imports from Africa’s least-developed countries. He described the initiative as opening new opportunities for Sudanese exports to the Chinese market while strengthening bilateral trade.
Representatives of the International Exchange Committee and Qixing International Investment and Service Co., Ltd. said the forum reflects the shared commitment of both sides to expanding economic cooperation and provides an institutional platform for business leaders to explore partnership opportunities.
They also expressed strong interest among Chinese companies in participating in Sudan’s reconstruction and development projects and in capitalizing on the country’s promising investment potential across various sectors.
The forum featured a series of presentations highlighting investment opportunities. The Sudanese Embassy showcased prospects in the mining, agriculture, and energy sectors, while a representative of the Khartoum Refinery Company’s Beijing Office presented opportunities in the oil and gas industry and related infrastructure projects.
The event concluded with direct business-to-business meetings between Sudanese and Chinese companies aimed at translating investment opportunities into practical projects that support Sudan’s reconstruction efforts and further strengthen the strategic partnership between Sudan and the People’s Republic of China.
