The newly appointed Governor of West Kordofan State, Major General (Ret.) Hamed Hamad Tirab Al-Taher, discussed the key challenges and general conditions facing the state with Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development, Engineer Mohamed Kortkaila Saleh, during a meeting at his office on Tuesday.
The governor said he had conducted a brief field tour to assess developments on the ground in the state, adding that he held a number of meetings and coordination discussions with a wide range of community representatives, as well as visits to several ministries and relevant institutions, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
Tirab called for meetings with the country’s senior leadership, including the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the Prime Minister, to support efforts aimed at achieving stability in the state. He also revealed that the West Kordofan government is preparing inspection visits to displacement camps housing people from West Kordofan who are currently located in other states.
For his part, the Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development praised the governor’s initial steps and described his start as successful, commending his commitment to direct engagement with community groups and identifying the actual challenges affecting the region.

The minister stressed the importance of building on previous projects and experiences while simultaneously developing strategic plans for new initiatives during the “post-liberation” phase. He also directed that coordination meetings be held with the Minister of Finance and the head of the Popular Resistance to support the state’s needs and restore stability.
Meanwhile, Governor Tirab reviewed efforts to mobilize support for the campaign to regain control of West Kordofan from the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during an expanded meeting held Tuesday at the state’s coordination office in Khartoum with the State Mobilization and Popular Resistance Committee.
The head of the Mobilization and Popular Resistance Committee, Major General (Ret.) Ahmed Ibrahim Azairag, congratulated the Sudanese forces on the liberation of Bara, Umm Sayala, and Jabra Al-Sheikh in North Kordofan, describing these developments as a launch point for advancing toward West Kordofan.
According to remarks reported by SUNA, Azairag said the governor affirmed during the meeting that his top priority is to clear the state of the RSF militia, while also supporting displaced people, preparing conditions for their return to their villages and towns following their liberation, and strengthening mobilization efforts.
