Joint Forces Spokesperson: We Have No Relations to Ad-Dabba Incidents
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa
The official spokesperson for the Joint Forces, Mutawakkil Ali Wakil, has reaffirmed that the Joint Forces have no relations whatsoever with the incidents that took place in the city of Ad-Dabba, Northern State, on Tuesday.
In a statement to Sudanhorizon news website, Wakil explained that the events began two days prior following a dispute between members of the Kababish ethnic group and another tribe, along with drug dealers. The conflict escalated and continued for several hours throughout the day. He noted that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the Joint Forces, the police, and all security forces present in the area intervened to contain the situation and bring down tensions. They were able to arrest a number of individuals who had fired shots from both sides.
The Spokesman stressed that anyone proven to be involved in this crime will be held legally accountable, affirming that the law will take its course against those involved.
Wakil noted that the situation is calm at the moment, adding that the incident may take on other dimensions, warning of opportunistic parties seeking to exploit the events and fish in troubled waters.
He called on those reporting on the event to seek accuracy and not to be swayed by undocumented information, reiterating that the joint forces and the army have no connection to what happened. He also denied holding the Kababish tribe responsible in general, explaining that the problem relates to a “specific group” of individuals, and not the tribe as a whole.
