Libya’s Parallel Government in the East Bans Entry to Citizens of Four African Countries, Including Sudan.

The parallel government in eastern Libya issued a decree banning citizens of Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, and Ethiopia from entering its territory through land, air, and sea ports. The decree exempts those with valid work permits and contracts in the education and health sectors.
Article 1 of the decree prohibits entry to nationals of the aforementioned countries through all ports of entry. Article 2 exempts members of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Libya and their families, as well as those working in the education and medical professions, provided they obtain the necessary permits and work contracts from the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable legislation.
Article 3 of the decree tasks the Libyan Ministry of the Interior with coordinating with relevant authorities to implement the decree immediately, circulating it to all ports of entry and taking the necessary measures to deport any holders of the aforementioned nationalities who do not possess valid residency permits.
