Sudan Ambassador to Rwanda Highlights Al-Burhan-Kagame Meeting
Kigali – Sudanhorizon
Sudan’s Charge D’Affaires to Rwanda, Ambassador Khalid Musa Dafalla, said the President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fatah Al Burhan, has held a lengthy meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, focusing on Sudan’s efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to war-affected areas in the country.
He said Burhan has reaffirmed Sudan’s cooperation with all humanitarian organisations seeking to deliver food to civilians in need of humanitarian assistance. He added that Burhan refuted all unfounded accusations and allegations of impeding humanitarian action in Sudan.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Ambassador Dafalla added that the Sovereign Council president has also provided a comprehensive briefing to President Kagame on the positive reactions of the Sudanese government towards all initiatives that consider Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said Burhan made it clear the Sudanese government would not involve itself in any initiative that lacks the basic elements contained in the ratified Jeddah Declaration, which stipulates eviction of all terror rebel elements from civilian homes and public establishments, and that no state involved in the aggression against Sudan should be part of the mediation efforts aimed to end the conflict in the country.
He pointed out that Burhan has underlined his government remains open to all initiatives that serve the cause of the Sudanese people and achieve their aspirations for peace and stability.
Ambassador Khalid Musa stated that the President of the Sovereign Council has meanwhile briefed President Kagame on the developments of the situation in Sudan, in particular the aggressions led by some states against Sudan as well as the participation of mercenaries in the aggression and the size of the violations authored by the terrorist rapid Support Militias in shelling civilians areas in the towns, attacking hospitals, public civilian institutions and infrastructures and their systematic targeting of civilian populations.
Ambassador Khalid said Burhan’s visit to Rwanda was constructive and fruitful, adding that the president of the Sovereign Council was accorded a huge standing ovation by the masses that filled the Kigali stadium.
He further pinpointed that Burhan met with heads of state and delegations on the sideline of the celebrations marking the inauguration of President Kagame, including a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Egypt, who headed his country’s delegation to the event. He said this meeting touched on bilateral relations and the challenges Sudanese currently face in Egypt. He said the Egyptian official has promised that those challenges would be mitigated. He said the two sides also agreed on the coordination of regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese cause and the peace realisation efforts.
