Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim was briefed on a new initiative by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) aimed at supporting Sudan’s agricultural sector in coordination with the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Under the initiative, the organization has reached an agreement with the bank to enable Sudan to benefit from capacity-building support for agricultural producers through the Arab-African Excellence Program, which is financed by the AfDB with US$500,000 annually over a five-year period beginning in 2026.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the minister, during a meeting in Khartoum on Thursday with AOAD Director-General Professor Ibrahim Al-Dukhiri, was also briefed on the organization’s efforts to develop a comprehensive program to support vaccine production centers and secure financing mechanisms for them in coordination with the African Development Bank and the Banque Sahélo-Saharienne (BSIC).

The meeting emphasized the importance of the organization’s role as a partner in implementing AfDB programs across Arab and African countries, as well as its coordination with the bank to secure financing for agricultural development projects in both the crop and livestock sectors, thereby supporting the government’s strategy of strengthening the capacities of productive sectors.
