Sudan’s Health Minister Discusses Strengthening Health Cooperation with Kuwait

Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim met with Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Abdullah Al-Sabah, head of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, to discuss ways to strengthen health cooperation between Sudan and Kuwait.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Assembly, the Health Minister expressed Sudan’s appreciation for Kuwait’s continued support, noting that Kuwait has consistently supported the Sudanese health sector through various funds, institutions, and health and service projects. He emphasized the deep fraternal ties between the two countries.
The Minister reviewed the developments in the health situation in Sudan and the efforts to rehabilitate health institutions and restore their operations in several states. He highlighted the importance of continuing partnerships to support the rehabilitation of health facilities and enhance essential services.
For his part, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Sudan, noting that the relations between the two countries are fraternal and longstanding.
He stated that Kuwait will remain a supporter of humanitarian and development work that serves the Sudanese people and strengthens joint health cooperation.
According to the Sudan News Agency, the meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of forensic medicine, a vital area for achieving justice, determining causes of death, and supporting investigations into medical liability and professional errors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of establishing a joint training program and exchanging expertise in this field, particularly given the need to increase the number of specialized personnel.
The meeting also addressed the situation of Sudanese healthcare professionals working in Kuwait and the possibility of developing cooperation in medical training, nursing, midwifery, and capacity building. This cooperation aims to enhance the expertise of Sudanese healthcare professionals and support the healthcare systems in both countries.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued communication between relevant technical bodies in both countries and establishing practical pathways for cooperation in supporting healthcare facilities, developing training, and strengthening forensic medicine. This will solidify bilateral health relations and support Sudan’s efforts to recover and develop its healthcare sector.
