Five people were killed and 12 others wounded as a result of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting several civilian areas in North Kordofan State.
The Sudanese Doctors Network said in a statement on Wednesday that the RSF shelled the “Dalil” cemetery during a funeral procession, killing four mourners and wounding seven others. The statement added that the RSF also targeted a gas station in El-Obied , seriously wounding five people. There are fears that the death toll will rise as the shelling of civilian areas and service facilities continues.
The statement also mentioned a separate incident in which a truck driver was killed after his vehicle, loaded with food supplies, was targeted in the Jebel Kordofan area. This attack violates the sanctity of civilian infrastructure and the means of supplying essential goods to the population.
The Sudanese Doctors Network condemned the RSF’s systematic shelling of civilian areas in the twon which has continued for more than a week. The network emphasized that targeting civilians, service facilities, and food transport constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The network held the militia leaders fully responsible for these violations and called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to protect civilians and stop the attacks that threaten the lives of residents and exacerbate the humanitarian situation in the city.
