Police Mourn 7 Personnel Killed in Clashes in Dinder Reserve

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

On Monday, the police announced the deaths of seven of their personnel, including an officer with the rank of captain, who were killed during a clash with armed groups inside the Dinder Reserve in Sennar State.

In an official statement, the police mourned their seven personnel, stating that they were “killed following a clash with a group of armed herders within the boundaries of Dinder National Park.”

The statement explained that the incident occurred while the targeted force was carrying out routine field monitoring duties within the reserve.

In recent years, the reserve has witnessed an increase in unregulated activities, including unauthorized grazing inside its boundaries, traditional mining, and poaching, which has led to rising tensions between authorities and local groups.

The Sudanese police maintain a notable security presence within the reserve, particularly through the Wildlife Police, which conduct regular patrols to combat such activities.
