Sudanese Health Minister: 80% of Health Facilities in the Country Revamped

The Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has reviewed the health situation and the operational status of health facilities in the country during his meeting today with Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim and the ministry’s Undersecretary Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed.
In a press statement, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim explained that the meeting addressed the overall health situation in the country, particularly the emergency situation, epidemics, and epidemics control. He emphasized the stability of the health situation and the control of all epidemics.
Dr. Haitham indicated that the meeting also discussed the operation of health facilities throughout the country, especially hospitals, noting that the medical facility occupancy rate has exceeded 80%.
The Health Minister stated that the meeting discussed the Prime Minister’s initiative, “Towards a Malaria-Free Sudan,” to combat the spread of the disease, which will be launched soon in the presence of state institutions, United Nations agencies, and partners.
Furthermore, Dr. Haitham said that the meeting discussed Sudan’s anticipated participation in the World Health Organization’s General Assembly meeting, which the Prime Minister will address to identify Sudan’s urgent health needs, in addition to arranging a series of meetings with donors and supporters to support the country’s health system.
