Blue Nile Govt. Spokesperson to Sudanhorizon: Militia Seized “Al-Kurmuk” and “Jurot” with External Support
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa
The official spokesperson for the Blue Nile Region Government, Saif Al-Nasr Minallah Mahmoud, confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces militia has taken control of the city of Al-Kurmuk, explaining that its entry came after the army withdrew to the Al-Baraka area as part of a repositioning north of the city.
Mahmoud told Sudanhorizon in an exclusive statement that the forces that attacked Al-Kurmuk received logistical support from outside Sudan’s borders. He noted that these forces were transported from Darfur to a neighboring country, where they were assembled, trained, and equipped with weapons and supplies, in addition to the involvement of a number of mercenaries, and the launching of drones from that country.
He further explained that forces from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, led by Al-Hilu, participated in the attack, and that both Al-Kurmuk and the Jurot area have been seized. He added that he preferred not to name the country at this time for diplomatic reasons, awaiting an official announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with international relations protocols.
Mahmoud described the humanitarian situation in the area as extremely dire, with thousands of civilians displaced to the city of Al-Damazin. He stressed that the scale of the challenge is significant and that what is happening represents a conspiracy greater than people perceive. He added that the armed forces, with the support and unity of the Sudanese people, are capable of confronting these challenges, emphasizing that the cohesion of the internal front is the first step toward victory.
Mahmoud also sent a message to external actors, stating that any attempts to conspire against the country through the Blue Nile Region will not succeed. He said that some parties have abandoned the values of good neighborliness and turned their backs on shared interests, warning that the response will be painful.
He expressed pride in the armed forces, praising their sacrifices and resilience in defending the land and sovereignty. He affirmed that the armed forces in Al-Kurmuk remain steadfast, cohesive, and fighting with unwavering determination, and that victory is coming. He noted that the battle is not fought by weapons alone, but through unity and the strength of the internal front, calling on citizens to remain united and stand firmly behind the armed forces, to ignore rumors spread by the Rapid Support Forces militia, and reaffirming the Blue Nile Region Government’s confidence in the 4th Infantry Division, its leadership, and its ability to restore full control over the region.
