Sudanese Finance Minister: Government’s Return to the Capital Marks Transition to Recovery and Reconstruction

The Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Counselor Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, affirmed that the resumption of the Ministry of Finance’s activities from the capital, Khartoum, reinforces the return of the civil government to work from the capital.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the launch of operations at the new headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Khartoum on Sunday, he noted that the ministry’s return sends an important message to all partners as well as the local and international community that the country has entered a phase of recovery and reconstruction. He commended the efforts of the states in hosting the government and citizens during the difficult circumstances the country has endured.
Nour expressed his appreciation to all state governments and their institutions that competed in serving the nation and its citizens, reaffirming the government’s call for international organizations, regional and international development institutions, and diplomatic missions to return and resume their work from Khartoum.
The Minister of State praised the ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation efforts aimed at preparing the environment for the full return of all state institutions and citizens, revealing that the Ministry of Finance has continued to meet its obligations toward creating suitable conditions for the return to Khartoum State.
For his part, Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza stated that the return of the Ministry of Finance to resume its duties from Khartoum represents an important milestone in preparing the environment and restoring normal life to the national capital.
He explained that the Ministry of Finance, through its experience, wisdom, and sound management, was able to manage the financing of the war effort, oversee the “Battle of Dignity,” provide equipment to the fighting forces, and compensate for revenue losses under extremely complex circumstances. It also financed several projects aimed at preparing for the return to the state and removing the آثار of war. He expressed hope that many pending issues in the state would be addressed within the 2026 budget.
The governor announced his state’s readiness to provide full support and assistance to the Ministry of Finance in carrying out its role and completing all economic files.
