UNSC Holds Closed Door Session on Sudan

New York – Sudanhorizon – Special – Mariam Abashed
A High-level diplomatic source has told Sudanhorizon that the United Nations Security Council will hold a special session on Monday to be devoted for Sudan and the impact of the war there.
According to the same high-level source, the in-camera session will be attended solely by UNSC members, and would be devoted to consultations about the humanitarian situation in Sudan in general, especially in the states and cities experiencing humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing siege by militias in certain areas and cities, especially in the capital of North Darfur state, Al Fasher.
According to the information, the main speaker during the closed session regarding the humanitarian situation in Sudan, will be a representative from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Sudanhorizon has also learned that members of the Sudan’s permanent mission to the United Nations will not participate in the closed session.
It is worth noting that the Rapid Support Forces have been committing heinous acts of human rights abuses against civilians through city blockades, looting, and burning trucks and vehicles carrying humanitarian materials, including those provided by the United Nations itself through the World Food Programme.
