Sudan’s Ambassador to China Discusses Oil Cooperation and Reconstruction with CNPC

Sudan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Omar Issa Ahmed, met on Wednesday with the Vice President of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Song Dayong, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the oil sector, the latest developments in Sudan, and prospects for reconstruction in the coming phase.
The two sides reviewed the cooperation between Sudan and CNPC, which spans more than three decades and has contributed to the development of the Sudanese oil industry through the establishment of an integrated system for production, refining, and transportation, as well as supporting technical and human capacity building in the sector.
Sudan Radio’s correspondent in Beijing, Osama Mukhtar, reported that the CNPC Vice President affirmed during the meeting the company’s interest in Sudan and its commitment to continuing dialogue and cooperation with relevant Sudanese authorities, and to contributing to the stability of the oil sector. He praised the positive developments taking place in Sudan, particularly the return of state institutions to the capital, Khartoum, and the commencement of reconstruction efforts and the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure.
The company’s vice president also praised the distinguished historical relations between the Republic of Sudan and the People’s Republic of China, emphasizing that the strategic cooperation between the two countries represents a successful model of long-term partnership.
He affirmed that the deep-rooted friendship between the Sudanese and Chinese people forms a solid foundation for further developing cooperation in various fields, particularly in the oil and energy sector.
For his part, Ambassador Omar Issa Ahmed expressed the Sudanese government’s appreciation for CNPC’s pivotal role in supporting the Sudanese economy and implementing several strategic projects, in addition to its contribution to training national personnel and transferring expertise and modern technologies.
The ambassador affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Chinese companies, especially CNPC, in a way that serves post-war priorities and contributes to supporting reconstruction and economic development efforts.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to activate communication between the relevant technical committees and exchange visits in the coming period. This will enhance oil cooperation between the two countries, support efforts to develop the oil industry in Sudan, contribute to the success of reconstruction programs, and strengthen the strategic partnership between Sudan and China.
