Emergency Room: 30 Deaths and 800 Cholera Cases in West Kordofan

The Dar-Hamar Emergency Room on Sunday announced that 30 died and 800 other infected as a result of an outbreak of cholera in West Kordofan State since June 20.

In a statement, the Emergency Room reported a cholera outbreak in the Wad Banda and Al-Nuhud districts and their surrounding villages in West Kordofan State, noting that cases have been recorded in more than 25 villages.

The Emergency Room also warned that diabetes medications in the northern districts of West Kordofan State have completely run out.

It appealed to humanitarian organizations and health authorities for urgent intervention to provide the necessary medicines, intravenous fluids, and medical supplies to contain the outbreak. It also urged citizens to take precautions and adhere to cholera prevention guidelines.
On Tuesday, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced in a statement that 911 cases of cholera had been recorded in the states of West and North Kordofan, including 127 deaths.
