Sudanese FM Calls on Lakes Ministers to Classify RSF as Terrorists

The Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif, participated in the eighteenth ministerial meeting of the Regional Ministerial Committee of the Great Lakes Organization, which was held today, on Sunday, in the Angolan capital, Luanda, with the participation of the foreign ministers of the Great Lakes Organization.
The Minister delivered a speech at the meeting during which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Angola for hosting this important meeting.
The Minister explained that the meeting comes at a critical moment as the Great Lakes region faces challenges in the areas of peace and security, in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic, which requires close cooperation between member states to address these challenges.
The Minister pointed to Sudan’s support for the Luanda process led by the Great Lakes Group to normalize relations between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, which works in coordination with the Nairobi process led by East African countries for peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Minister commended the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region for condemning the rebel Rapid Support Militia in its extraordinary summit statement on Sudan and the Republic of the Congo held in Angola.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the Lakes Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to clearly condemn the rebel Rapid Support Militia and classify it as a terrorist group due to the unprecedented atrocities it has committed against civilians since the beginning of the war and continues to do so.
