The Democratic Bloc, part of the Forces of Freedom and Change, commended the statement delivered by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Sudanese Armed Forces Day, Friday.

The Bloc, through its spokesperson, Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, stated on Saturday that the speech’s emphasis on the importance of Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and the need to create a conducive environment for its launch represents a significant step towards addressing the crisis through a national political process.

Zakaria added that a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue, based on national ownership and inclusivity, is the best way to reach a national consensus and build sustainable peace, provided that a suitable security environment is in place to guarantee the participation of all segments of the Sudanese people.

The Democratic Bloc called on all to engage positively with any serious effort to launch a comprehensive national dialogue, provided that the process is managed entirely by Sudanese parties and that the regional and international role is limited to facilitation and support without interfering in determining participants or imposing an agenda or outcomes.

Zakaria said that the success of the dialogue requires a genuine political will and expanding the base of participation to go beyond elite dialogue to a national dialogue that expresses the various sectors and regions of Sudan in order to reach a national consensus that establishes a stable transitional phase and a democratic state governed by law and peace.
