Sudanese Army Announces Full Control Over Oil Refinery

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

The Sudanese army announced on Saturday morning its full control over the oil refinery north of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The official spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, said in a brief statement seen by the Sudanhorizon news website: “Our forces have already extended their full control over the Khartoum refinery.”

For several months, the army has imposed a siege on the refinery, located about 60 kilometers north of Khartoum, which the militia had controlled since April 2023, by laying hands on it without fighting.

The army succeeded in dismantling minefields around the refinery, which is located in the middle of a fortified mountain range containing facilities and a camp affiliated with military manufacturing, in addition to a combat training camp.
