On Wednesday, Sudan and China signed $30 million agreements in the fields of solar energy, mining, and transportation lines.
The agreements were signed on the sidelines of Sudan’s participation in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, in the presence of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, Engineer Mohi El-Din Naim Mohamed Saeed, Sudan’s Ambassador to Beijing, Omar Siddiq, and the Director-General of the Defense Industries System, General Mirghani Idris.
The Energy and Mining Group CEO, Anas Ahmed El-Badawi, stated that several memorandums of understanding and contracts were signed with Chinese companies. He noted that this work aims to bridge the energy gap, focusing on clean and solar energy. He added that these contracts will contribute to producing 1,500 megawatts of solar energy and promote using solar-powered electrical equipment to reduce electricity costs.
He also mentioned that agreements were signed with Chinese electricity companies to repair transmission lines and provide the necessary equipment and transformers to facilitate the transfer of electricity from generation areas to consumption areas. Engineer Anas said memorandums of understanding in the mining sector were signed for extracting precious metals through strategic partnerships with Chinese institutions, with a particular focus on iron ore, as Sudan is rich in this metal.
On his part, the Chairman of the CCCC Group, Wang Xiaohua, stated that these agreements with Sudan reinforce the strategic partnership principle that ties China and Sudan.
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council also held fruitful and successful meetings with the directors of several Chinese companies operating in the fields of oil, solar energy, and electricity, which led to the signing of these agreements.
