Omdurman – Sudanhorizon
The Free Arts Laboratory in Khartoum State has held the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia responsible for the safety of artist Safwat Al-Jaili, who has been detained in their prisons since last Tuesday.
In a statement issued this morning (Friday), the laboratory reported that RSF elements arrested artist Safwat from his home in Al-Haj Yousif, Al-Kalas Street, on the evening of last Tuesday and, according to witness accounts, transferred him to their detention centre in the Al-Riyadh neighbourhood.
The Free Arts Laboratory has called upon international and human rights organizations, the artistic community, and cultural organizations to act swiftly and exert pressure to release artist Safwat Al-Jaili.
Notably, the Free Arts Laboratory is a cultural, productive, and rights-based organization comprising dozens of artistic and dramatic groups, active in Khartoum State since 2013.
