Port Sudan – Sudanhorion

The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT) has called on the authorities in the Sovereignty and Cabinet Councils to issue decisions that will help combat this crime, unify the efforts of national entities working in the field, and prioritize the issues of human trafficking and irregular migration. It also requested that representatives from the involved agencies dedicate their time to address and contain the crime urgently.
The committee’s chairperson, Mawlana Howaida Awad, expressed at a workshop held in Port Sudan on Sunday, titled “Combating Human Trafficking: National Efforts and Roadmap,” the committee’s readiness to coordinate efforts with neighbouring countries, including those that have been adversarial to Sudan, in the best interest of its citizens.
She indicated that international mechanisms should address the violations and breaches of international law that Sudan has suffered from such countries.
Justice Minister Muawiya Osman praised the role of the committee, led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Mawlana Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim, especially in light of the current war imposed on Sudan by the rebellious Rapid Support Forces (RSF). He noted that the committee has been working to combat organized crime since the start of the war.
During the opening session of the anti-trafficking workshop, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing human trafficking issues and its continuous efforts to combat this crime. He highlighted the ongoing national efforts in collaboration with other countries to reduce the risks associated with this crime.
The Minister of Justice also reviewed the committee’s efforts, noting that it is one of the committees supervised by the Ministry of Justice due to its specialization. It was established in 2014 under the Human Trafficking Act of 2014.
