Minnawi Comments on Abu Namou’s Leadership of the Negotiating Delegation, Mubarak Al-Fadil’s Statements, and Today’s Attack on El-Fasher

The Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, stated that the leadership of the government delegation by Mohamed Bashir Abu Namou, the Minister of Minerals and a prominent figure in the movement, in the current negotiations in Jeddah with the U.S. government, represents the leadership of the Sudanese government’s delegation and nothing else.
In an exclusive statement to the “Sudanhorizon” news site, Minawi said that Abu Namou is a minister in the government and attended the Jeddah meetings in that capacity, adding that the Americans have no interest in being inflexible during the Jeddah meetings and should listen to the demands of the government delegation. He explained that the initiative is a joint effort between the Sudanese and American governments to establish a flexible dialogue with the militia. It does not matter whether this dialogue takes place in Geneva or any other location, emphasising that it is a dialogue regardless of the place.
Minawi added, “We do not care about the Americans’ stance; what matters is the implementation of the Jeddah agreement, which should pave the way and be the foundation for any further dialogue. The greatest movement during the Sudanese crisis is the movement of the Sudanese people. The dialogue is the people’s dialogue, regardless of the international and regional movement, which should support the internal dialogue.” He pointed out that the free Sudanese people are the ones suffering in every corner of Sudan and that the international movement these days is merely support for a ceasefire. He added that the issue is Sudanese, and it is the Sudanese who are dying and suffering from the war’s flames, so the solution must come from within Sudan.
Commenting on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attack on El-Fasher this morning, Saturday, Minawi said that the militia’s attack on El-Fasher has been ongoing for six months, and it is clear they are determined to take control of the city. Today’s attack was specifically aimed at this goal, but it is merely an illusion in their minds. He added that they were defeated today after the attack on the city, and they fled as they always do whenever they attempt to attack El-Fasher.
Minawi also commented on the recent exchange between him and Mubarak Al-Fadil, the head of the Umma Party, saying there is no dispute with Mubarak Al-Fadil. He considers Al-Fadil to be a figure whose relevance has expired and that any disagreements with him are of a national nature.
He added that Al-Fadil is searching for his role and past glories through these exchanges. He continued, “This is Al-Fadil’s nature, and disagreements with him do not signify a split within the forces supporting the army.” He further added, “He cannot be aligned with anyone; he speaks alone and represents only himself as an individual in the end.”
