Minister of Energy: Plan to Reconstruct Electricity Stations in War-Affected States

The Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohiuddin Naeem Mohamed Said, affirmed his ministry’s determination to finance the restoration of the production line for the new metre factory to address the scarcity of meters and resume production in Lines (2 and 3) after the destruction of the metre factory in Khartoum, which contributed to localising electricity industries.
This statement came during his visit to the headquarters of the Sudanese Electricity Holding Company in Port Sudan, where he attended a regular meeting that discussed the indicators of the plan for the upcoming year 2025 and preparations for the upcoming summer season well in advance in the administrative capital and secure states. A comprehensive plan was established to rehabilitate electricity stations in the affected states, focusing on Khartoum once it is fully liberated.
The minister emphasized his interest in the electricity sector in Sudan, as it represents the backbone of industry, agriculture, and services. He assured that spare parts, which have been a significant obstacle for various electricity generation companies, would be provided.
He pointed out his support for the electricity sector with a substantial amount from the Ministry of Energy and Oil to meet the increasing demand for spare parts, confirming his commitment to providing salaries for electricity workers by the end of this week for August.
The minister directed that work should continue in the upcoming year’s plan for rural electricity in the Red Sea areas. Work is currently underway in the Muhammad Qoul area and, subsequently, in the Hamesh Kourib area. The rural electricity project will continue in the other areas and rural regions of the Red Sea state and Sudan in general.
For his part, the General Director of the Sudanese Electricity Holding Company, Consultant Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed, confirmed that work on the electricity in the administrative capital, Port Sudan, has reached advanced stages. Thanks to the significant efforts made by workers in the electricity sector, including labourers, technicians, and engineers, the city has a stable environment.
