IGAD Secretary General Participates in Entebbe Summit on Supporting Somalia’s Stability

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, participated with heads of state and government in the Extraordinary Summit of Troop Contributing Countries to the African Union Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), hosted by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Gbeyehu stated that the troop-contributing countries to the mission have made tremendous sacrifices to achieve peace throughout Somalia. Discussions will focus on shaping the future of AUSSOM and the vital roles that various stakeholders can play in promoting lasting peace, stability, and security in the region. A stable and peaceful Somalia is essential for a more secure and stable region and beyond.
