Free Surgical Camp in Dongola Supported by Qatar Red Crescent

On Monday, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced that it will conduct free surgical operations in December at the Dongola Specialized Hospital in Sudan’s Northern State. The camp will focus on general surgeries for children, urological procedures, and other specialized operations, and a team of specialist doctors from Qatar and Sudan will participate.

Dr. Yasser Ahmed Abdel-Wadoud, Director-General of the Ministry of Health in the Northern State, affirmed that the ministry will facilitate all technical and logistical arrangements necessary to implement the free surgical camp successfully. He commended Qatar’s ongoing support for the Sudanese people, particularly the residents of the Northern State, through its charities and organizations. He urged stakeholders to maximize the benefits of Qatar’s significant contributions to the health sector, reiterating the ministry’s commitment to executing the camp efficiently to serve the community.

Collaboration Between Red Crescent Societies

Aisha Abdullah Qeqer, Executive Director of the Sudanese Red Crescent in the Northern State, emphasized the Qatar Red Crescent’s significant role in supporting the health sector and delivering quality services. She highlighted its direct interventions in various critical areas affecting people’s lives.

Aisha assured the Sudanese Red Crescent in the Northern State that it is ready to collaborate with its Qatari counterpart, leveraging all available resources to ensure the successful execution of the free surgical camp at Dongola Specialized Hospital.

Preparation Meeting

Dr Yasser Ahmed Abdel-Wadoud convened a preparatory meeting at Dongola Specialized Hospital, attended by:

Dr. Ahmed Fath Al-Rahman, Director-General of Therapeutic Medicine at the Ministry of Health in the Northern State.

Dr. Fatima Haroun, Director-General of Dongola Specialized Hospital.

Representatives from the Sudanese and Qatari Red Crescent Societies.

Medical supply coordinators and experts from the hospital and the health ministry.

The meeting focused on finalizing arrangements and preparations for the surgical camp in December, ensuring that all necessary steps are in place to deliver vital medical services to the community.
