Eritrean Foreign Minister Receives African Group Leadership Coordinating Africa Day Celebrations

Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed received the Dean of the African Group, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, and the Group’s Coordinator, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, at his office on Friday.
The Eritrean top diplomat listened to a comprehensive presentation on the activities and programs implemented by the African Group to mark Africa Day, which were initiated and coordinated by the Sudanese Embassy in cooperation with other African diplomatic missions.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of the African Group missions accredited to Eritrea in promoting joint African action. He commended the diplomatic and cultural activity witnessed in the capital, Asmara, during this year’s Africa Day celebrations.
The events included a series of cultural, intellectual, social, economic, and sporting activities, with broad participation from embassies and regional and international organizations operating in Eritrea. This gave the celebration a new dimension, transcending the traditional protocol of previous years.
The Eritrean Foreign Minister affirmed that the success achieved reflects the spirit of solidarity and cooperation among African nations, calling for building upon and developing this experience by launching further initiatives and programs that strengthen the shared African presence and contribute to consolidating relations among the peoples and countries of the continent.
The Minister also extended special praise to the Sudanese Embassy, commending its pivotal role in coordinating efforts and encouraging collective participation this year. He emphasized that the initiatives led by the Embassy contributed to revitalizing the African scene in Asmara and attracting unprecedented participation from all diplomatic missions and accredited organizations without exception.
Minister Osman reiterated the Eritrean Foreign Ministry’s full support for activities and programs that promote African cooperation, affirming his readiness to participate in and sponsor future events that serve the goals of integration and solidarity among the countries of the continent and enhance Africa’s standing and role in its regional and international arenas.
