Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, embarked on a diplomatic tour of four African countries, namely Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Nigeria and Chad, from January 5 to 11.
This visit marks the 35th consecutive year that the head of Chinese diplomacy has chosen Africa as the first destination for this year.
These trips reflect Beijing’s commitment to responding to Africa’s major challenges, including infrastructure development, poverty alleviation and promoting sustainable growth. They express the deep and growing friendship between China and Africa and the continuity of friendly cooperation between China and Africa. China believes that Africa is never a “lost continent”, but a land of hope and a source of dynamism. Among the 20 fastest-growing economies in the world, there are 10 African countries.
Africa is seen as a continent full of vitality and hope, with 70 percent of its population under the age of 30, the youngest in the world, and with this potential, it looks forward to stronger cooperation in various fields, whether it is infrastructure, where China is focusing on this area, among other development areas.
