Al-Burhan: No Talks Without RSF Dismantling, RSF’s War Is Against the Sudanese People

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, said Sudan remains committed to the course it has followed since April 15, 2023, describing it as “the path of truth and dignity.” He added that the Sudanese people have rallied behind the Armed Forces in what he called an existential battle, saying, “Our trust in God is great, and we will prevail because we stand on the side of justice.”

Addressing worshippers after Friday prayers at the Abu Qaroun Mosque in East Nile locality, Khartoum, Al-Burhan acknowledged the hardships facing citizens but said, “We know that people are experiencing difficulties, but these hardships will end once the rebellion is eliminated.”

He stressed that there are “no middle-ground or gray solutions,” stating that “the only solution is to eliminate the rebel militia and uproot it from all parts of Sudan.” He added that “anyone claiming neutrality on this issue has abandoned the cause of justice.”

Al-Burhan accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing civilians, causing starvation, and targeting critical infrastructure in the city of El Obeid, including electricity, fuel, and water facilities that serve the public.

“This is not a war against the government,” he said. “It is a war against the Sudanese people, and everyone must move forward toward eliminating this militia and ending its rebellion against the state.”

Referring to statements by international mediators, Al-Burhan said: “Our response to those who claim the war cannot end with a military victory is that victory is coming, and it will be achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces.”

He continued: “If the war does not end with the victory of the army and the people, the militia will return to the scene and once again terrorize the people of Sudan.”

Al-Burhan also declared that Sudan would reject any negotiations that do not require the dismantling and disarmament of the RSF.

“Any talks that do not lead to dismantling the militia and handing over its weapons are negotiations we will not enter,” he said, stressing that all those responsible for crimes against the Sudanese people must be held accountable.

The military leader praised what he described as the Sudanese people’s steadfast support for the Armed Forces during what the government refers to as the “Battle of Dignity.” He said the strength of the Armed Forces stems from the determination of the Sudanese people and argued that armed forces around the world hold a sacred and symbolic place in their nations.

He also criticized Sudanese politicians who have called for dismantling the Armed Forces under the banner of reform, saying: “We tell them this is not your affair. We will continue alongside our people and achieve the victory they seek despite the objections of those who seek to discourage or cast doubt on our efforts.”

Al-Burhan concluded by paying tribute to those he described as Sudan’s martyrs and those who lost their lives in the Battle of Dignity, praising their sacrifices for the country’s honor and dignity. He also commended the important role played by Sudan’s Sufi orders in promoting the values of Islam.
