Aboul Gheit in Port Sudan Tomorrow

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Dr Ahmed Aboul Gheit, is expected to arrive in the administrative capital, Port Sudan, tomorrow (Monday) for an official visit to Sudan, his first since the outbreak of the war in the country.

In a special statement to Sudanhorizon news site, Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Yusuf said the visit is in response to an invitation he extended to the Arab League Secretary-General during a recent meeting in Cairo following his appointment as Foreign Minister.

Dr Yusuf described the visit as significant, adding that during his visit, Dr Aboul Gheit will meet with several leaders and officials in the government, including the Chairman of the Sovereign Council. The meetings will focus on the latest developments regarding the crisis caused by the ongoing war. He further stated that a session of talks between himself and the Secretary-General of the Arab League will be held during the visit, with discussions concentrating on areas of cooperation and shared interests between Sudan and the Arab League. The talks will also cover future cooperation in the post-war era, particularly in the reconstruction of Sudan and rebuilding what has been destroyed by the conflict.
