Khartoum Sports and Cultural Festival to Launch in Coming January

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports held a joint coordination meeting on Tuesday with relevant departments from the Ministry of Interior, the Higher Council for Youth and Sports in Khartoum State, and several sports federations.

The meeting discussed finalizing arrangements for the Khartoum Sports and Cultural Festival, scheduled for early January 2026, under the patronage of Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, Member of the Sovereignty Council and Chairman of the Khartoum State Reconstruction Committee.

Representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports emphasized that the Ministry, in coordination with the Higher Council for Youth and Sports in Khartoum State, attaches particular importance to the festival as a unifying national event. It reflects the return of sports and cultural activity to the capital and embodies the Ministry’s role in supporting youth initiatives and promoting organized sports.

The head of the Khartoum State Athletics Federation, Ali Abdullah Omar, stated that athletics races constitute a central focus of the festival’s program. He noted that all technical and administrative preparations are complete and that four main race routes have been approved, covering most of the capital’s districts:

The main race: from the headquarters of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports to the Rowing Club.

The second race: from Al-Manshia Bridge to the Rowing Club.

The third race: from the Tennis Club.

The fourth race: in front of the Signal Corps.

He added that the races will see wide participation and are open to all age groups, as part of expanding the base of sports participation and establishing the concept of “sports for all.”

For his part, the treasurer of the Sudanese Athletics Federation, Mohamed Osman Al-Jabouri, said that his federation is working in close coordination with the state federation and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure the success of the races according to high technical and organizational standards that reflect the true level of Sudanese athletics.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the official spokesperson for the police, Brigadier General Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Toum, explained that institutional coordination between the relevant authorities contributes to the success of the events accompanying the festival, ensuring the smooth flow of the programs and their implementation according to the established plan.
