The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mr. Moatasem Ahmed Saleh, accompanied by the Acting Governor of Kassala State, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, inaugurated today (Sunday) the model “Qalsa” Health Center in rural Kassala, along the Sudan–Eritrea border.
The minister stated that the health services and medical equipment available at the center are advanced, making it a model facility capable of providing comprehensive health services. He noted that qualified medical personnel will be part of the center’s services, including a visiting obstetrics and gynecology specialist, a dentist, and an added delivery room.
He praised the state government’s support for the ministry’s activities and programs through its various departments. He also directed the provision of 500 small-scale projects for youth in the area, revealing that the ministry has 1,500 employment opportunities available for young people, with a significant share allocated to the youth of Qalsa.
For his part, the governor expressed his happiness with the visit of the Human Resources and Health Insurance delegation. He noted that the visit comes during the rainy season to an area previously affected by cholera, which had a major impact on the local community and the state. He praised the exemplary role played by the community in cooperation and disease response, and thanked the people of Kassala who stood with the area and supported its residents during the cholera outbreak last season.
The governor added that the center is one of the major facilities in rural Kassala and expressed hopes of upgrading it to a rural hospital. He directed the local administration to open roads in the area to allow access for additional services.
Last week, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, accompanied by a delegation from the Federal Health Insurance Administration, conducted a tour that included the states of Blue Nile and Sennar, during which he inaugurated several health and service institutions.
